Description

A quite wonderful example of a Scottish made Fernware box, created as souvenirs in the Victorian era. This one has a photographic scene to the top of the famous English village of Selworthy in Minehead, Somerset labelled " Cottage Scenery, Selworthy Green "; famous for it's circle of thatched cottages around a central green, which is one of the tourist highlights of Exmoor, as famous today as it was with the Victorian gentry visiting in the late nineteenth century.
The fernware finish to the box is in pristine condition with a superb and attractive glossy finish. Another unusual feature of the box is the lined interior, quite often these were left unlined or lined in a simple paper finish. This one on the other hand retains it's original tufted silk lining in really spectacular condition.
Excellent condition, measuring 6" x 4" x 2 1/2".
