Description

A wonderful and most unusual cigar dispenser dating to the late Victorian era, around 1890 and English in origin.
The box is actually a box within a box, the interior box is lifted by the two handles on the top and allows one to unlock the interior box which allows the box to be filled with cigars, this lid is then locked with the key.
The lid can then be lifted and a single cigar is dispensed onto the concave platform, once this is taken the box can be lifted again and another cigar will then be "collected".
The outside is decorated with a variety of silver plated mounts, including shield shaped backed ring handles to each side and a shield shaped presentation plaque to the front which could be engraved if desired.
The interior box locks well and the outer lock uses the same key but has to be fiddled with a little (mentioned for accuracy only, the locking of the interior box is the important one). A quite exceptional novelty humidor in excellent condition. Measures 8" wide x 6 1/2" deep x 6 1/2" tall while closed.
