Description
It's not often one comes across such a splendid clean example of these highly sought-after solid English Oak butter dishes finished with silver plate mounts to both top and bottom with a quality screwed construction. The handle folds or stands for display, and the lid finished with a ball shaped knob.
The interior reveals the original creamware pottery liner without damage (usual age crazing).
The underside of the lid is marked D&A for the silversmith Daniel & Arter and EPNS for Electro-Plated Nickel Silver.
A wonderful example in superb condition, measuring 4 3/4" in diameter x 5 3/4" tall to top of handle.
