Description

A quite stunning and rarely found style of box made from expensive and exotic Rosewood having recently been professionally French polished to showcase the stunning colours and grains of this highly prized wood.
Of course it is obvious to see why this stands out from the rest, is the exquisite and intricate inlay with a floral bouquet in an urn being inlaid from Mother of Pearl, Abalone Shell and polished brass. The front has a complimentary and highly decorative inlay around the escutcheon.
The interior has been re-lined with hand marbled paper and incorporates a removable tray; making this suitable for many purposes whether you wish to use for jewelry or papers on the desk-top.
Dating to around 1840, it remains in superb condition and complete with working tasselled key. Measuring 10" x 8" 4 3/4". A stunning heirloom quality box for the discerning.
