Description
A beautiful antique box, so elegant and would lend itself to a jewellery box or a desk box for either a lady or gentleman.Made from beautiful Mahogany in a wonderful shape and standing on four bun feet.
There are three lion's head ring handles, one on each side and one to the front aiding in the opening of the drawer. The top of the box has the original inlaid brass plaque, engraved E. Richardson.
The interior has been completely re-lined in a rich coloured hand-marbled paper, perfect in keeping providing a nice clean interior ready for use. There is a solid brass pin which when removed allows the drawer below to be opened.
The box is trimmed in a very fine ebony stringing or moulding including around the edge of the drawer ... which shows off it's exquisite lines.
The box comes complete with a working key which sits in the diamond shaped Ivory escutcheon to the front.
A beautiful and very usable box in excellent condition (a couple of tiny age cracks running from the top of the drawer, insignificant but mentioned for accuracy) measuring 10" x 6" x 6".
