Description

A charming late Victorian English Inkwell made from solid polished Oak with silver plated fittings signed on the underside by the well renowned silversmith, Henry Bourne of Birmingham; well known for these Oak and silver combination pieces.
The Oak base stands on the three original bun feet. This in turn is mounted with and engraved horseshoe shaped mount. The back incorporates a double pen rest and the cradle which holds the crystal inkwell is mounted with a horseshoe to both back and front.
The inkwell is mounted with a hinged jockey / riding cap lid.
Dating to c.1890, it remains in excellent condition with an overall measurement of 6" x 5" x 3 3/4" tall at highest point.
