Description
The best I have had in many years. These Victorian crocodile wallets are usually plain or enhanced with minor silver mounts .. not this one, the entire front is English sterling silver in fine condition.The silver has all-over engine turning with an exquisite pierced or reticulated floral border and a central shield shaped cartouche with a decorative engraved monogram.
The back is a beautiful rich cognac coloured crocodile or alligator skin with a good shiny patina. The interior is lined with a buff coloured soft calfskin, with a pocket each side, perfect for business cards, cash, or credit cards.
The silver is hallmarked for London 1901, a very early Edwardian example and remaining in excellent condition. Measuring 5 1/2" x 4" while closed. A rare and exceptional piece.
