Description
A very fine pair of late nineteenth century opera glasses made from Mother of Pearl and the original gilded brass; made by the creme de la creme of makers, LeMaire of Paris.
The makers mark (the Napoleonic Bee) is engraved on the underside of frame and the case is also lucky enough to have an embossed Bee on the push button closure on the front of the leather case.
The original case is lined in a vibrant purple silk, gold printed for a Swiss retailer in Zurich.
Excellent working order; fine quality and condition, dating to c.1890. The case measuring 4 1/2" x 2 1/4" x 3" tall.
