Description
This is a fabulous and rare find, I haven't seen this one ever before.
Cast from English brass and dating to the late Victorian era, the Cockerel is beautifully executed with great detail and retaining his two glass eyes. The red felt Comb to the top of his head is the dip pen nib wipe.
The beak is sprung and can be prized open to clip in a business card, letter or note, so unusual. The hinged lid opens to reveal the removable glass ink chamber within.
Dating to c.1880, it remains in excellent condition measuring 4" in diameter x 4 1/2".
