top quality antique english walnut cased betjemann's tantalus c1880

Description

About as good as they get by the most famous and sought-after manufacturer, Betjemann's.
The case is made from Walnut with brass mounted brackets to each corner and a polished brass bar to the top keeping the precious contents of the decanter's away from the servants during the Victorian era.
There is a brass mounted label engraved with the original retailer "Perrett" in Weston-Super-Mare on the Somerset Coast of England.
The lock has a working key and once unlocked the button is pressed down to release the bar allowing access to the three large and hefty cut crystal decanters. These examples are about as exceptional as they get with a very unusual cut decoration, each decanter measuring 3 1/2" square x 9 1/4" tall.
Victorian in era and dating to around 1880, this exquisite Tantalus is in superb condition. The footprint measures 16" x 6 3/8" x 12" tall to top of handle.
