Description

A wonderful late Victorian or Edwardian revolving serving or breakfast dish in the more unusual rectangular shape rather than the more often found oval examples.
The edges and handles are beautifully decorated, the dish standing on the four most superb figural legs created from winged Cherub or Putti figures.
The knob at the front is made from Mother of Pearl and when pushed back the dome revolves to reveal the two original shallow trays. These are perfect on a buffet to serve either hot (with hot water beneath) or cold (with crushed ice below) dishes; a very impressive addition to any occasion.
All three pieces have matching makers marks, I believe for the silversmith, Marples & Co. of Sheffield.
A beautiful dish in excellent condition, measuring 14 1/2" handle to handle x 8 1/2" x 8" tall.
