Description

A most unusual piece of highly collectible Tunbridge Ware, in Walnut with a micro-mosaic top incorporating the word "Besique", a 19th-century French melding and trick-taking card game for two players.
The box fits full sized playing cards, making it a very usable card case, whatever your favourite game is. I have put two decks of (new) cards in the box, purely to complete the offering. The underside retains it's original paper covering and a couple of original labels.
Dating to the late Victorian era, around 1880, this unusual box remains in excellent condition. 4 3/8" x 3 1/4" x 2 1/4".
