Description

A wonderful dressing table / hand mirror made from sterling silver with a hallmark (somewhat rubbed but legible) for Birmingham 1922. The side of the mirror is marked in two places "Guaranteed Tortoiseshell".
The back has the most stunning piece of period tortoiseshell with magnificent markings and colours ranging from golden champagne to rich chocolate brown showcased by a good glossy patina. The mirror back has an exquisite silver pique decoration to the centre.
Excellent condition (minor wear commensurate with age) and measuring 10" x 5 1/4", with the bevelled glass measuring 4 3/4" across.
