handsome antique english figural inkwell dog glass eyes c1880

Description

A really fabulous cast metal canine inkwell, the casting being intricate and with good detail.
The metal is heavy, I am fairly sure bronze but with a silver finish, so I think plated, certainly not spelter, it's too heavy. The beautiful collar buckle to the front of the wooden base retains it's original gilded finish.
This hunting dog retains his beautiful two amber coloured glass eyes. The hinged lid opens to reveal a removable ceramic ink chamber for easy cleaning and refilling.
A lovely highly collectible example in excellent condition. The wooden base measures 4" in diameter and the head stands 4" tall.
