rare combined music box desk bell by wmf in silver plate c1900

Description

A fabulous desk or counter bell by the renowned German manufacturer, WMF (W�rtemburgische Machin Fabrik).
The bell including the knob on the top has several marks all over with a O in a diamond shaped lozenge, meaning that this piece has silver-plate deposit, 50% thicker than the normal coating. There is minor wear to the plate with the brass showing on a few high spots.
The underside has the full WMFM mark, the last M meaning the base metal is brass, quite rare in WMF wares. The underside is where the winder for the music box can be found and plays an attractive tune, fully working. The sides are beautifully engraved and the base having an attractive beaded design.
Most unusual in excellent condition, with a diameter measuring 4 3/4" and standing 4" tall.
