Description

A very handsome English hipflask, made from a very tactile cut crystal in the ever-popular hobnail cut design.
The sterling silver lid and removable drinking cup are both created from sterling silver with a hand-beaten finish, the cup being lavishly gilded on the interior. The underside of the cup is clearly stamped for the luxury goods maker Drew & Sons, Piccadilly Circus.
The lid is the bayonet type, requiring a twist and lift with a cork inside to avoid evaporation of the precious contents. There are full hallmarks on both the collar and cup for London 1904, a true Edwardian example. The makers initials are also present, S.S.D over E.D into a shield for the silversmith and retailer, Drew & Sons - Samuel Summers Drew & Ernest Drew.
A fine example in excellent condition, measuring 5 1/4" tall.
